Still in Sunny California

The post triathlon day was a lazy one. We went to Trader Joe's--a little too crowded for me to really appreciate it. Got coffee, ran errands, etc. Ken and I cooked dinner for the Hewes-Clarks and a couple of ole friends. We made sausage and vegetables on the grill tossed with some carmelized onions, garlic, fresh thyme and sauteed tomatoes, and a whole bunch of freshly grated pecorino. It came out great. We made a simple salad of arugula, toasted walnuts, gorgonzola and thin sliced apples from Amy's tree--with a lemon vinegrette.

We drank wine and talked into the night.

Tuesday we had to get going. We packed in the morning; I took a good quick walk with Amy all over the Cal Poly campus and then we went to brunch at Big Sky, a restaurant we've gone to everytime we've been in San Luis.

I had Mexican pozzole with eggs and cormbread. It was a delicious stew and I loved the sweet cornbread melting into it on top.

We walked over to a store called Picking Daisies where the sew napkins of amaizingly pretty colors and designs. Here's a picture of past of their wall:

The have a website www.pickingdaisiesinslo.com.

We drove about 4 hours up to Soquel. I have a bunch of pictures of the kids--my adorable grand nephews Jaden and Bohdi, and Izzy. Nephew Dan and his wife Amy made us a very nice dinner. This place is a beautiful little farm--a three ring circus with the kids and dogs.

Barb Cabot:

Sounds like the adventures contine. I want to visit that restaurant and that cute shop with napkins. Thanks for taking along for the ride.
