My tree orchid is blooming! This cattleya orchid was established on a big cedar tree when we bought the house. It survives beautifully on benign neglect and even rewards me periodically with these gorgeous blooms. Cattleyas are known as "corsage" orchids, so if I'm unexpectedly invited to a prom, I'm covered. I like it when things that I grow in my garden have a practical purpose!
Edited to add this photo of the tree where the orchid grows:

I'd love to see a picture of the tree and all, I don't think I have ever seen one before.
We only have squirrels and mistletoe in our trees.
bugalu to you =D

I was thinking on this issue last evening and I determined to search the World Wide Web for further information. Your blog came up in my search and I'm impress what you have penned on this topic. As I'm currently widening my research and thus cannot contribute further, however, I've bookmarked it and will be returning to further comment. Like I said, love this comment and will be back soon.
