Belated Mother's Day

Sometimes we just get wrapped up in the moment, and forget to say anything until it has passed. Or we're baking on Sundays! This is a rather late greeting for my friends, cousins, and everyone else in my circles; I hope you had the day that you wanted.

I felt fortunate this year to have two of my three grown children at home for the day, and actually most of the weekend. It's still a hard day, only a year and a half since my mother died, and while it is certainly easier this year, we miss her very much; this day brings up so many memories.

It was low key, a day spent with family, and the sun broke through in time for brunch on the deck. David and our son Matt did a spectacular job in the kitchen, aided by daughter Sarah; Rachel called in her greetings from Santa Cruz and sent a simply decadent basket of items to pamper the footsies. And my darling, darling children have gifted me with the charms of their sweet heads, to replace the necklace I lost in Savannah. I am truly touched.

And flowers from my favorite florist:

On Thursday we're off to Toronto, to visit old friends and attend David's 30th medical school reunion. No Sunday Bakers this week.

Barb Cabot:

Marcia, I'm so happy you were surrounded by your kids minus one on Mothers day. Lucky, lucky you. Their presence is such a gift in itself. Everything else is icing...and what lovely icing it was. Those flowers are beautiful! Take care and safe travels this weekend. Have fun.
