Grazie

I just wanted to thank everyone who has read and commented on my new project. It's a little bit like giving birth (ok, not the same physically but it's a good metaphor), and to put it out there took some courage. I feel very blessed to have people surround me with encouragement and good thoughts. And so, I say grazie.

My other new project is learning some Italian before our next trip in June. It seemed like a good idea, this weekly conversational Italian class, beginners, that meets at a local high school and is offered through a community college near us. This is week 3, we have covered a lot of vocabulary, pronouns, subjects, oh, a lot of stuff, I think we're doing verbs on Thursday. So after several trips, David and I are getting serious. He's actually studying more than I am. We have a lovely instructor from Milan, and an interesting group of students. I'm really glad we're doing this.

Ciao!

Hopefully blogging isn't as painful!

I started listening to 'learn Italian' podcasts today (because 1 week is more than enough time during which to learn the Italian language in my feeble mind ARGH) on the train. After about 5 minutes I stopped. Apparently I was speaking out loud and my trainmates were not pleased.

Opps

It will be fun to banter in broken Italian at GTGs! I need to do more actual study. I just keep thinking I want to do it in ITALY, so I do nothing. But I do get a little better every trip!

Eden:

Congratulations on your new blog...

You know what they say about childbirth... It maybe hard and painful but somehow you forget about the pain and you or some do it again and again!...

So perhaps you have a point there about blogging and childbirth... LOL

I forgot to mention that I LOVE your header photo!

My first trip to Italy was right after taking a class just like you are doing. I found the Italian people to be very encouraging and patient when I tried to use my newly learned Italian. I have taken many more classes after that but have not kept up the studying. It is difficult to stay committed. I do find that every bit of Italian I do know is helpful when I am there.

Good for you for starting the blog - and you are already posting photos! And great to hear about the Italian class, isn't learning a language so much fun?
