We have arrived after what may have been an almost perfect travel trip, except for the length, of course. I will have to write a kudos to British Air at some other point; our journey through the dreaded T5 at Heathrow was a breeze, and our luggage came with us to Rome. I cannot ask for more. Well, I could and after a shower, I discovered we could access wifi, and thanks to Kim's lessons in Savannah, woo-ha, I have internet!
We are staying these few nights at the Navona Gallery Suites; we have a bedroom in a two bedroom suite, with a balcony and access to a kitchen that is stocked with breakfast goodies, including two coffee machines. Sort of a do it yourself B&B; the apartment is in an old building on a busy street but quiet since we face a courtyard. And the funny part is that when the car pulled up to the antique shop where we got the keys, I looked up and said, "Hey, we had lunch at that place with Rachel in '06, and then I recognized Cul de Sac down the street, and remembered we have also eaten there.
Our street:

So, after that shower, we walked a short block to Da Baffeto, which had just opened for dinner and had fabulous pizzas and house wine - now we're home. David was hoping to watch the France-Italy Euro Cup game at a bar, but it's raining, all the cafes with tvs are reserved for dinner, so we came back to our room and are practicing our Italian by listening to the game in Italian of course. We can hear the shouts from the street. Oh, and we also strolled the Piazza Navona just the as the light was fading, so wonderful. I would say we forgot the gelato but we are just too tired, hard as that seems. I am too tired to download/upload pictures, too.
Edit to add picture: Fountain in Piazza Navona at sunset:

Tomorrow, gelato, walking, the Pantheon, Spanish Steps (have not been to the church at the top, we realized), maybe more gelato, cacio e pepe, and then, in the afternoon . . . joking, we are taking this the slow way this time.
Ciao for now,

WOW - blogging from the road! I am impressed. Isn't it nice to return to a spot and have a sense of 'belonging', a familiarity. Have some gelato and vino for us.

Marcia your trip over sounds perfect. We always fly BA business (on points of course) it is my favourite airline by far.
You sound so relaxed, and everything seems to be simply falling into place.. let it continue for the remainder of your trip - it all sounds so wonderful!
