I Heart You

Hearts.jpg

In my world Valentine's Day and See's Chocolates are one and the same. When my sister and I were young children, our father would bring our mother a big See's heart on the 14th; we always got smaller ones. When I had children, I tried to do something "sweet" for them on the day (even though doing the classroom valentine thing wore me out somewhere along the way, 3 kids in elementary school x 30 kids/class, gets old fast). But we would have heart muffins, or cocoa in heart mugs, things like that. David and I would usually go out for dinner, just the two of us - it was definitely a Hallmark holiday, but a casual one at best. Somewhere in my basement I am pretty sure there is a box with glitter, glue, red papers, all that stuff.

It's quieter these days, with all of the children with sweethearts of their own. This year we get to spend the weekend with not only our children, their sweeties, but also with our newest little love, baby Sebastian. I went to See's just yesterday to get some chocolates for everyone - not in heart shaped boxes this year because I have to make them fit in a checked bag, but See's just the same. And while David and I will not be having that romantic dinner out, we are more than happy to be cooking at the home of the new parents. Oh heck, we're thrilled.

Have a sweet day, whatever you choose to do.

Happy Valentine's Day and have a wonderful time with your new sweetheart, Sebastian!

I've never had See's chocolate, can you believe it? But I just recently noticed a kiosk selling them at my local mall so I'll have to remedy that soon.

For me personally, you can't go wrong with a box of See's chocolates. I know you're having fun Marcia. What a nice Valentine's gift it is to have Sebastian and all the family with you this weekend. Enjoy.
