Slow Bowl - the Beginning

So let's go back a few days to the beginnings of the 3rd Slow Bowl weekend - much has been written already about this 3 day party in Paso Robles; many pictures have been posted. I have only a few to add to the site, and as yet, all but one remain unedited, unsized, un, well, you get it.

It took a lot of organizing this year, especially as I had ordered a large cake for David's birthday and had to drive over to Porto's Bakery in Glendale to pick it up before we could hit the road. The week had been complicated by the purchase of a new car, after weeks of looking and comparing, and I had spent another night preparing a casserole for Saturday's dinner. Unlike last year the weather gods were with us, so after loading David's car with luggage, food, wine and various sundry items, like his two laptops, we were off. Since we are also on grandbaby watch, we were hoping that we would make it through the weekend, but if not, well, PR is halfway to Sacramento.

Shannon the Super Skipper of SlowBowl had once again rented the sweetest cottage for the weekend http:///www.cottageatcapitolhill.com/. We had stayed there the first year, not the second and we were heading back to the cottage this year, since Kim and Chris were not able to make the trip. I am already teasing Kim about next year.
After unloading all our stuff, and since it was only 3ish, some of us headed over to J.Lohr winery to kick off the weekend; the SlowBowlers were not gathering for dinner until 6 or so.

So this is my kickoff picture, taken at the winery - let the games begin:

From L to R : Moderator Roz, Mike, Bill,David, Me, and CathyT - Judy (Tourmama) and Shannon were cooking and organizing back at the house; the other housemates were enroute.
Back at the house, we popped open some bubbly since it was Champagne Friday and David's birthday. The weekend had really started.

Sounds like fun!

Barb Cabot:

Love reading about the weekend...a little like reliving it. I'm posting mine beginning tomorrow. On pins and needles waiting for baby news. Keep us posted.
