Four Foods on Friday 71

I'm a blog-cheater today. My brain is drained from most of a week at work in the WASC review process, and yet it is fairly quiet at school today - I'm thinking most of us have drained brains. We do, however, have a four day weekend ahead - Tuesday is Cesar Chavez Day, observed mostly by schools and government offices here in California, and my principal has granted us Monday as well, a thank-you for the work spent on WASC.

So I did some meme playing today over at TheDailyMeme; it looks like I've missed the previous 70 weeks of Four Foods on Friday :).

So, if you care to play along:

1). What's your favorite cereal?
I actually don't like cereal, sometimes I eat it as a snack, so whatever is in the house.

2). What do you use to flip food on the stove?
Whatever I can reach - fork, tongs, pancake turner.

3). What's your favorite type of donut?
Buttermilk old-fashioned with a dark chocolate glaze.

4). Share a rice recipe.
I don't often mess with rice in a recipe; I either cook white rice in my ancient rice cooker,
or I will buy a blend of brown and wild rices, and season the cooking liquid with garlic salt,
lemon pepper and olive oil.

TGIF; tonight is, as is usual when we're home and remember, champagne Friday at Casa Battin, and then we are going to check out a new New York style pizzeria that was mentioned in the LA Times this week - it's in an interesting location, a neighborhood that has become better known for Chinese food, Monterey Park - where David grew up in another era, and now that I think about, so did Barb Cabot. We're curious, to say the least.

Hey that is not cheating! Lucky you to have a 4 day weekend. You really do have a great boss! Aren't rice cookers wonderful?
