Another Riff on Roses

While I was out planting tomatoes and herbs yesterday, I realized that the climbing rose bushes had really bloomed in the last week or so. What better way to start off May than with a few more rose pictures. These climb in various parts of our backyard, two are of the old English variety, and sadly, I just don't remember their names.

On the deck we have this one:

This one climbs over the fence just above the vegetable box:

I actually know the name of the one that is on the fence across the yard - Firecracker - I bought it just before a summer barbecue a few years back.

And finally my nursery freebie, a gift one summer from the local nursery as a "welcome to our remodeled store". It seems to be a cross between a bush and a climber, but is very prolific all summer long. I love how the peach buds turn to creamy white single flowers.

Happy May Day.

Happy May Day to you too. The roses started blooming here in NC this week. You've got some nice ones!

I love these roses, Marcia.

I love the old-fashion roses. They may bloom all at once but they usually have such beauty and lovely scent.

Beautiful, Marcia. I'm so happy that it's May! Spring, at last!!

Your roses are wonderful - I really like the firecracker one - it is stunning.

Gorgeous roses, Marcia! It must be lovely to see these beauties everyday.
