Sweet, loving, gentle Spice crossed the Rainbow Bridge last evening. He went peacefully, in his sleep.

Here he is with Mojo, the youngest of our cats.
You can read more about Spice in this entry I wrote earlier this year: Furry, take two.
He will be greatly missed by our family but especially by my daughter Polaris, who for fifteen years shared her bed with her beloved and cuddly Spice.
Four Feet in Heaven
Your favorite chair is vacant now...
No eager purrs to greet me.
No softly padded paws to run
Ecstatically to meet me.
No coaxing rubs, no plaintive cry
Will say it's time for feeding.
I've put away your bowl, and all
The things you won't be needing;
But I will miss you little friend,
For I could never measure
The happiness you brought me,
The comfort and the pleasure.
And since God put you here to share
In earthly joy and sorrow;
I'm sure there'll be a place for you
In Heaven's bright tomorrow...

Hi Maria, I am so sorry to hear about Spice. My heart goes out to your family and especially to your daughter during this difficult time.
I have a lump in my throat looking at his photos and reading your words and that beautiful poem. I'm sure too that there is a place for Spice in "Heaven's bright tomorrow..."
Take care.

Well, I'm sitting here boo-hooing. I've never read that poem before and it's so wonderful and sad. I'm thinking of you all and of beautiful Spice.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I didn't mean to make anyone sad with the poem, quite the contrary. I imagine Spice arriving at kitty heaven and his joy at seeing Tux there waiting for him.

Oh no! I haven't been around for a few days and just saw your post.
Spice was a beautiful kitty, and I know you all will miss him. But, you are right - he is there in kitty heaven (over the Rainbow Bridge) with Tux and Coco, and they are happy and healthy again.
