Today is Saturday and that means it is Photohunt time. This week's theme is purple. This week we have been watching the weather and checking the reports of the wildflower blooms in Central Washington.
Central Washington, from along the eastern slopes of the Cascades through the steppe foothills and into the desert basalt cliffs magically erupts into bloom from around mid-April to the end of May. We will watch the trail reports on Northwest Hiker forum to see what is in bloom and then head east to hunt for flowers. Some of our favorite places are on the country roads outside of Ellensburg; Whiskey Dick, Vantages, Reeser Canyon.
The colors are quite diverse but there is many little flower gems in purple. Here is a sample.

Showy Phlox on the slopes above Vantage.
Wooly pod Locoweed (Astragalus purshii)

Oh, I love your wildflower photos. I think I was predicting some kind of orchid from you!
I actually have a purple rose bush, but I cut the blooms last week, and there were no new buds today. Guess I should have read ahead on what the theme would be.

Wonderful photos. I love the locoweed; I've read about it but never seen it. Happy wildflower hunting this spring.

Lovely purple flowers. That first photo is simply beautiful.
I thought of you the other day when I went to Tucson. My friends and I went to a small enclosed shopping area with wonderful little shops and saw a large selection of alebrijes. They were all very colorful and so whimsical.

Hi Marta, fantastic photos! You have such a nice collection of different kinds of flowers that are purple. I really enjoy learning the names of these beautiful flowers in your photos.
BTW, great header photo! It almost looks three dimensional like I'm driving on the road and coming across these zebras myself.
Have a great Sunday!
