In rural Italy the seasons are marked by agricultural rythms, reminding us that Mother Nature is still in charge even in our highly technological society. The celebration of the earth's bounty is shared by all and the "aria di festa" is contagious.
No harvest is more indicative or festive than the vendemmia. There is a sensual beauty to succulent, sweet bunches of grapes, swollen with their elisir. Tending the vineyards all year is hard work which in late September gives way to fervor in the fields as pickers and tractors rush the product to the winery.

Mary - you post so many beautiful pictures; you may want to consider doing photo essays on slow photos (once they get the kinks worked out on the new server), of your life/travels in Italy. Just a thought.
