AN ENJOYABLE MINI GTG AT GENIUS LOCI

Marcia and Dave, Michael and Barb and Art at Genius Loci

I was introduced to Slow Travel, to its network of friends, just about exactly one year ago at the Assisi GTG. Except for Mary Jane and Fulvio and for Palma and Brad who were staying with us at Genius Loci, I knew NO ONE else. Chance had it that as I arrived I found a place at a friendly table with Jane, Ken and Casey, Marcia and Dave, and Barb and Art. They were my first Slow Travel friends: their lives, stories, travels were so generously shared with this "newcomer". I was immediately and kindly made to feel welcome and part of this remarkable group of people from all over the world.

I was thrilled to meet the founders, Pauline and Steve and so many other "regulars".

While the heat was truly merciless, the food, drink, company and a general merriment was outstanding. The afternoon was a fit introduction to Slow Travel.

Since that torrid July day, I have had occasion to see some of those present again and to meet new members at a January innkeepers GTG in Civitella Marittima and at other venues.

Yesterday, with the greatly appreciated Genius Loci visit of Marcia and Dave and Barb and Art, I had the pleasure of meeting up again with these two "first encounter" couples. Again, it was sultry, albeit not torrid, again we shared some wine and good conversation together. They were able to meet Michael who manages the inn and Mar who happened to be present.

Travel time as well as retirement time is so very precious: a huge thank you to both couples for sharing that rare commodity with us at Genius Loci.
