Few things delight me more than seeing Maurizio intent on, absorbed with and inspired by his painting. Years ago he painted often, especially when the children and I spent long summers in California and he was home alone.

"Umbrian Farm House"
For many reasons, mostly regarding an overly busy business schedule, he set his canvases and paints aside. Last summer, as you may remember from reading this blog, one of our guests, a fascinating New York artist and gallery owner, invited Maurizio to join him for a full day of vibrant, intense and exciting "en plein air" painting. That full day of inspiration, sharing of artistic passions, rekindled Maurizio's desire to paint and remains as one of his happiest days at the inn.

"View from Genius Loci" - the "en plein air" painting created last August
Since that August day last year, Maurizio has created and completed many works which we have framed appropriately and which now grace the stone or hand-troweled walls of Genius Loci.

" Olive Grove in the Spring" - lovingly dedicated to me

Artistic endeavors elevate the soul! Inspiration, creation, implementation, fine-tuning, assessment, completion - an exciting and meaningful "journey".

And I thought you married him for his good looks and promising future... should've known that an art history major would "require" an artist to share her life!
