the forsythia bush in the garden just a few days ago

the forsythia bush today - an explosion of yellow

carpets of wild flowers

dancing in the softest of spring breezes

the delicate beauty and scent of the wild violets

the empty terracotta pots "taken over" by the wild "occhi della Madonna" and pansies, almost as pretty as if planted

the artichoke plants fortifying themselves as they prepare their April/May delights

There aren't nearly as many forsythia here in Umbria as we were used to in the states and I really miss those huge bright yellow bushes!
