Reflections on My 40 Years in Umbria

I certainly don't want to seem to be copying my good friend Diana's topic today, but this has been a week which has put such focus on how grateful I am for our guests. From early email exchanges we often establish a meaningful and very pleasant relationship. We are reciprocally anxious and excited to meet each other upon arrival. Conversation flows easily as it does with good friends as we exchange tidbits of our lives, interests, passions and feelings.

I am grateful for those who write such affectionate comments in our Guest Book about us and our inn and who later take the time and trouble to write reviews about Genius Loci. I am grateful for those who have cared enough to come back, to plan their vacations around their stays with us, to those who send greetings throughout the year, who forward photographs taken during their stay.

I am grateful that I have been able to touch the lives of so many wonderful people from at least 20 countries and to share meaningful moments with them.

Yes, bella Diana, not too many people can say that about their jobs. We are lucky...and grateful!
