Genius Loci http://www.geniuslociumbria.com is so fortunate to have a remarkable clientele: guests from many walks of life, from many countries, and of many talents. As an art historian I am especially sensitive to, appreciative of, and in awe of artistic talent. Our artist guests bring the tools of their trade, setting up shop en plein air, gleaning inspiration from the pristine and timeless landscape on view from Genius Loci.

Guests are generous with their art: this original watercolor notecard, the view from the guest's room, was sent to us a thank you card. We treasure it and have framed it to be enjoyed by all at the inn.

This watercolor has quite a story: last Thanksgiving, on the Outer Banks, this same watercolorist, R.G. was taking part in an art show. Another guest bought this delightful rendition of the cucurma plant which R.G. painted while at Genius Loci in 2007 and gave it to us as a gift.
An accomplished New York artist gave us an outstanding work he had painted en plein air, writers have sent us poetry inspired by the view from the inn, bloggers have mentioned the beautiful memeories of their stays with us, photographers have sent us CDs of photos taken of and from Genius Loci, guests have sent in reviews to Trip Advisor, other various forums, and to the Travel Sections of their local newspapers.
Genius Loci is proud, so very proud, to have inspired artists. As much as we would like to take the credit, we know that it is magical Umbria, its unique ambiance, that is the real inspiration. Genius Loci has merely tried to capture a bit of that magic!
