Just a few days ago, the lawns in the garden were carpeted with wild flowers, bulbs were blooming, buds were swollen...all under the bluest of skies and a warm sun. What a difference a day makes....

An Arctic blast of cold rushed across the Alps, taking us back to winter. We have had snow, sleet, and hail and freezing winds. Yesterday in Gualdo Tadino on business, the car got stuck in the snow and needed help to get out.

Today, after an encouraging morning of what seemed like better weather, a hail storm came from nowhere, whitening the lawns, covering the surrounding mountains with snow and, again, plummeting the temperatures close to 0°C.

Not able to enjoy my garden walks these past few days, I brought the spring beauty inside! Bringing daffodils inside for Mar's March 13th birthday is a "sacred" tradition: I haven't missed a year in 40!

What very bizarre weather shifts! But "Mar's" daffodils look lovely.
Remember Shelley: If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
