Our last day in Lake Como - Boo Hoo! We decided to get a day pass on the ferry and visit some of the other towns. Since we had already been to Bellagio on our last trip, Varenna and Mennagio became our agenda for today.
Varenna came first and we spent a couple of hours there walking along the water and visiting two gardens - Villa Cipressi and Villa Monastero. The latter was quite large, and both gardens were by the water's edge. I guess we must be more into gardens than museums or churches - it seems like that is where we usually end up.
VILLA MONASTERO:
On to Mennagio for a short visit and a walk along the lakefront. We stopped in the little town square for something cool to drink and to watch the world go by,
Back to Lenno on our day pass. Our plan was to have our last dinner at Ristorante Plinio, Only problem was that there were no outside tables available, but we got a nice table right by an open window - almost like sitting outside.
Bill had an Seafood Salad Appetizer, Asparagus Soup, and a local specialty, Pizzocherri.
I had the Plinio Seafood Appetizer and the same huge ravioli I had earlier this week with butter and sage. Yum!
Next door for gelato before we headed home.
PS - I wonder how many Hotel du Lacs there are at Lake Como.

Sounds like a great day! I love Varenna. I have stayed in Bellagio and Menaggio. Now I am torn between Lenno (after reading about it in your blog) and Varenna the next time I go to Lake Como. And ravioli with sage and butter!!! One of my absolute favorite dishes.
