I want to say it is a fluke, but now I see that a fluke can be many things, including a flatfish.
My fluke is an improbable occurrence, something I would never have imagined.
It is only 9 a.m., and my blog has had over 2,000 visits already today. OMG, how did this happen?
I checked my Sitemeter detail and see that all of the hits have been to one blog entry that I made a year ago, Fairbanks Ice Festival.
I know, I know - it's that time of year when people are interested in attending or at least seeing photos from the ice festival. But that is not what made me wonder.
When I checked the referral website, they all seemed to be coming from a voyeuristic website with pictures of naked ladies all over it. I quickly looked for a link to the ice festival and could find none. I was kind of embarrassed to be on that website, so maybe I missed it.
So, I think the Fairbanks Ice Festival post has officially passed the James Dean post for most visits!
PS 1/21/10 - Yesterday's visitor total was almost 4,000. Today the same post (Fairbanks Ice Festival) has been mentioned by someone on another website (not the voyeur one), and it has produced almost 400 visits. My ordinary daily visit total is about 50. Go figure!
PPS 1/24/10 - My hits have slowed down but are still way more than usual. After the 4,000 day and the 400 day, I have gotten about 120 the last couple of days. It's still the Fairbanks Ice Festival they are looking at. I found my website link on a European website. I know it won't last, but it's fun right now!

Cool - and to think they say the internet is only used for sex!

I think I'd be pretty shocked to have 2,000 hits in one day on my blog -- yikes!
