It was MarciaB's turn to choose the ingredient this week - her blog is Happy Trails For Us: My Reluctant Blog, and she chose peaches! Peaches with tomatoes - I would have never thought of that combination, but it was delicious!
Marcia got the recipe from myrecipes.com - Summer Peach and Tomato Salad.
All of the tomatoes were from our garden and the peaches from our tree and a neighbor's. I had some Feta cheese that had Mediterranean herbs in it, so that added flavor.
The resulting dish was light and fresh-tasting, a perfect accompaniment to our dinner steaks.
Thanks, Marcia - I will be making this again!
Summer Peach and Tomato Salad
Simplicity has never looked so beautiful. A stunning combination of skin-on peaches and heirloom tomatoes of various colors, sizes, and shapes creates a sweet-savory salad that pairs well with grilled pork.
Yield: 8 servings (serving size: 1 cup)
Ingredients:
1/3 cup thinly vertically sliced red onion
3 ripe peaches, pitted and each cut into 8 wedges (about 1 pound)
1/2 pound heirloom beefsteak tomatoes, cut into thick wedges
1/2 pound heirloom cherry or pear tomatoes, halved
2 tablespoons sherry vinegar
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
2 teaspoons honey
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/2 cup (2 ounces) crumbled feta cheese
1/4 cup small basil leaves or torn basil
Instructions:
1. Combine first 4 ingredients in a large bowl.
2. Combine vinegar, olive oil, honey, salt, and pepper in a small bowl, stirring with a whisk. Drizzle vinegar mixture over peach mixture; toss well to coat. Sprinkle with cheese and basil.

You've got a peach tree? That's great! I haven't made this yet but I plan to. I love that tomato/watermelon salad so I know I'll love this one too.

Hi Nancy, I too would not have thought to pair the two ingredients as well. Your salad looks so delicious. I love the colors and presentation of your dish. What a wonderful summer salad.
Thanks so much for sharing.

Wow - I can't imagine peaches and tomatoes together. Hmmmm - I have wonderful specimens of both in the basement. I guess I should try this salad this weekend.
