I have found the "secret" to weight loss! I've already commented on how happy I am with the warm weather and being in my pool every day, so the exercise is good, the water is relaxing, but I can only take so much sun! When not working, you will find me at the kitchen table or on my patio with my watercolors! It keeps me from cooking and baking, and somewhat away from my obsession with food. Since I am VERY excited about my upcoming Italian study, I have been painting BOLOGNA scenes!
My apartment is close to the lovely Piazza Santo Stefano:

I picture myself walking around the city:

I paint from photographs, and found this one on the internet. Then I realized it came from my friend Jane's blog! I will spend my first night in Bologna in Hotel Porto San Mamolo. When I stayed there before, I loved this little courtyard area. Thanks, Jane!

Of course, one of my favorite parts of Bologna is the market area! This trip, I will be able to bring home food to my own apartment kitchen!

Here is a shot of the wonderful Piazza Maggiore. I can sit and study, watch people, have a glass of wine or coffee, and practice my Italian on friendly cafe patrons.

My favorite (and most challenging) painting was trying to get the perspective correct on the stunning portici!

Two weeks...Bologna LIVE!

Palma, you have created some beautiful pieces! I love the (depth?) tunnel-like perspective of the last one. As you can tell, I am not up on artist-language but I sure love your work!

I love your paintings. In 2000 hubs and I were in Italy and on our way from Rome to Venice on the train. It was getting late, so we decided to disembark for the evening at Bologna. We loved it. I think it is one of the secrets of Italy and wasn't much noted in our guidebooks. I can't wait for your blogs from there. Bon voyage!

That is so strange finding my photo on the internet! You did the hotel full justice in your drawing--I love it! Isn't Hotel Porto San Mamolo a wonderful small hotel? Can't wait to go back someday.

Dearest Palma! Many, many thanks for the wonderful surprise. It arrived today and is already hanging in a place of honor in my kitchen! I'll take a picture and post it so people can see how good you are with still life as well.
Bella!

WOW!!! I love all of them! Gorgeous. I would have recognized Bologna right away even if you didn't tell us. You are very talented. I think my favorite is the one with the fruit.
