Rosemary's and Coming Home a Winner

Ok, where were we? UP $275, I believe. Saturday morning we had a great breakfast at Mon Ami Gabi, then found a new area of video poker machines, and they liked me! Up another $100. It was time for some shopping. I bought another pair of shoes and a purse with some of my winnings. After our nap, I lost $60 but we were on our way out for a great night on the town.

Dinner was at one of our very favorite Vegas restaurants, Rosemary's. We have been dining here for about 9 years, and the food and service are impeccable, without a huge Las Vegas price tag. Our waiters, Thomas and Ted were really wonderful.

After a glass of wine in the bar, we were served an amuse bouche of whitefish in a lovely sauce with caramelized onion marmelade.

For his first course, Brad had his favorite sweetbreads, and I had the Maytag blue cheese slaw with BBQ shrimp (the dish that made me fall in love with the restaurant during our first visit).

That would have been enough for dinner, but we kept right on going since this was the birthday celebration meal for both of us! Brad ordered veal wrapped in pancetta, and I enjoyed my rack of lamb.

We were stuffed, and there really was no room for dessert, but we managed to finish our wine, and taste a bite of the tiny cookies that arrived with our coffee.

If you are ever in Las Vegas, don't miss this jewel in an unassuming strip mall, way out on Sahara Blvd. It is Michelin recommended, and has been written about in Food and Wine, and too many other publications to mention. We are HUGE fans, but if you are into awards and accolades, here is a list. We are ALWAYS happy with our dining experience at Rosemary's!

After dinner, we headed to the Palazzo Hotel and Casino for Brad's surprise birthday present and two tickets to Jersey Boys! We really enjoyed the show and the music! It was like a perfect date night!

We returned to the Paris, and I won back what I lost in the afternoon. Final totals: I have the $300 I started with, and an additional $200 plus SHOES and a purse! I am happy!

Sunday, because of trafffic, we took the back roads home across the Mojave desert. 3 1/2 hours of yucca trees and rocks, but we made great time!

Big congrats on the wins! How did Brad do?

We took the "shortcut" thru the high desert once, but never again. I worried about having car trouble out there in the middle of nowhere!

Sounds like a great weekend. Happy Birthday to both of you!

Brad'll Do It:
