I slept in until almost 8. After coffee and a shower, I set out for a morning of shopping.
When you get used to this beautiful city, you forget to look up at the amazing portici.
I took a few minutes to appreciate how gorgeous they are.

I stopped for coffee and my first pastry at Cafe Zanerini behind the Duomo. Pastry filled with marmellata di bosco are luscious! It was so nice to have no agenda, or be rushed. I read my book (on my iphone), and watched people.

Then I did some shopping. I bought a pair of comfy black Mephisto sandals and did some damage at the Furla store.

I shopped around the food markets, bought mailing tape, phone cards for my Italian cell, and returned home for lunch. I needed a nap. I set my alarm to sleep from 2-4. At 4, I thought I would just lay there for a minute. I woke up at 6:15!!! Barely enought time to change and get to Piazza San Stefano, where I was meeting friends from the desert at 7!!!. We had prosecco in a bar on the piazza, and then ate dinner together at Drogheria della Rosa (again. Well, it was SO good last Sunday!)
We all began with the tortelloni with zucchini blossoms. Then Rudy had grilled lamb, Nancy had the filetto con balsamico (that she loved as much as I did last Sunday). and I tried the pork stuffed with cheese and topped with marscapone.

We decided to go to La Sorbetteria for gelato for dessert. I tried the Crema d'uovo. It is an eggy vanilla with a hint of zest of lemons from Sorrento. YUM We were right in my neighborhood, so I called a taxi for Nancy and Rudy, and came home. It was a very relaxing day and fun evening!

Interesting about the ceilings of the porticos. I have seen many in pictures but few photographers seem to look up as you did!
It was good chatting with you last night on facebook - the joys of our modern world. Three days and we shall be chattering away in person as we heard from market to market! Get ready to EAT and DRINK my friend!

I really enjoyed Zanarini's. And LOVED the portici in Bologna -- great photos, Palma!
Any pix of the Furla purchases? I'm going to try hard to not buy any new purses when I'm in Italy ....but I'd love to just look at some!

When I went to Bologna in early May I couldn't believe it but nothing at Furla caught my eye! I was actually happy about that, as it saved me some money! :D
