We had a long, fun day in Ravenna with my teacher, Andrea as our guide. It was very hot, and there was a lot of walking, but we really enjoyed ourselves. We started with coffee, then saw the beautiful mosiacs of San Vitale and the baptistery. Then we walked through the market, through the main street and visited San Apollinare Nuovo. We have to many photos, and too little time to download, resize and post them all, so I will save those for when I return. Andrea was very knowledgeable about the history symbols and architecture.
We had a nice lunch at Ristorante Melarancha. We sampled three interesting pastas:
Spaghetti with a potato dough, with sausage and peppers, "Doppioraviolo" filled on one side with pears, and pecorino on the other with mint and poppy seeds in the dough, and spinach ravioli with duck ragu:
After lunch, Jerry and i stopped in the post office to buy large shipping boxes to mail home our clothes so we can pack everything we have purchased!
Then Andrea took us to another large Outlet Mall (Castel Guelfo) on our way back to Bologna, where we spent an hour before returning to the apartment for some down time before dinner.
Dinner tonight was at Drogheria della Rosa. This is my third visit ...once a week whether I need it or not! The lasagna was amazing. Thin sheets like paper! Oh SO good. I asked the chef for the recipe for the balsamic glaze on the filetto. I will try it at home!
Lots of wine was consumed.
We had a fabulous dinner!
