We were up early for shifts in the shower, and out the door by 8 to pick up our rental car at the airport. Jerry is our driver, and I am navigating with the GPS in Italian. Sandi falls asleep every time we get in the car, so Jerry and I mock her and wake her up at toll booths to pay a fine. From the airport we drove to the outlet stores at Fidenza Village.
I had a LOVELY time!
We stopped briefly in the tiny town of Zibello.
At 12:30, we met Marcia and David at the wonderful La Buca in Zibello.
The lovely Signora of the trattoria remembered me and greeted me warmly. She thought Sandi and I were sisters. She asked about Alabama, and then mimed playing a banjo. She is as adorable as ever, and she never ages. She was very pleased to have all the photos of our past visits.
We had our pranzo outside on the terrace:
First we shared a platter of culatello:
The 5 of us each ordered a different pasta dish, so we could sample more than one:
Sandi had tortelli di zucca, Jerry had anolini pasticciati "La Buca", Marcia had tagliatelle con funghi, David had tagliatelle con culatello, and I had Bucanove (pasta stuffed with ricotta and parsley topped with bechamel).
We did not order any second courses, but ALL had dessert. Here is my almond torta.
After a lovely leisurely meal, wine and coffee, we went up to San Luca.
We got home, relaxed at the neighborhood bar, then decided to cancel tonight's dinner reservation, and have an easy evening at home. Jerry fixed us a picnic from the food in the fridge.
