Spring is the season for artichokes, or carciofi, but I have seen some beauties lately. I love carciofi a la guida, fried carciofi in Roma, stuffed and baked, or just steamed with aioli!
The first three photos are from the farmer's market. Gorgeous!



These are some medium sized artichokes from Trader Joe's I used for a recipe last night.

And since I had some, I figured they might be fun to paint! I got an "artichoke shadow" by shining a flashlight at three artichokes sitting on white paper.
