We left Verona after breakfast Sunday morning for our short visit to Bologna. I was very excited to show Brad around "my hood". It was a quick drive with no traffic, so we were checked in to Hotel Porta San Mamolo and walking to Pizza Maggiore by 11:00. We had a coffee near the market, and then went to Eatily for some shopping. After a while, we decided on a shared snack plate and a glass of wine for lunch.

We walked over to Piazza Cavour for a scoop of "Cavour" gelato (marscapone with Amalfi limone e pasta froglia).
We returned to the hotel to relax around three, and as soon as we got to our room, the skies let go with quite a thunder and lightening storm. It was a perfect time for a nap!
At 6:00, Andrea and Daniela met us at our hotel and we all sat in the breakfast room to visit with a bottle of Lugana we brought from Verona. It was so wonderful for me to have Brad meet my Italian instructor and his wife. We are now all friends, and most of the conversation took place in Italian.
At 8:00, we were off to Biagi for dinner. Fabio Biagi, is a charming host. Here he is serving us cheese at our table.

The pasta was a good as I remembered. Brad tried his with prosciutto e piselli, and I had my favorite buttery spinach tagliatelle with prosciutto.

We shared a cotoletto Bolognese for our second course. Lots of fun conversation, reconnection, for old and new friends with good food and wine. What could be better?

I am looking forward to hanging out with Marcello and (hopefully) Raffealla & Francesca too. Good friends who I think of with such high esteem. The friends we make in Italy is magical.
