I ALWAYS forget how long it takes to get from Palm Desert to anywhere in Italy! We left our house Thursday morning, drove to LAX (it was a zoo as usual), had the uneventful 11 hour flight to Rome (on time), then 3 hours later, we were on a plane to Venice. It is always beautiful flying into Venezia!

Finally, we got our car and drove about an hour and 15 minutes to lovely Verona and checked into Hotel Giulietta e Romeo. I got a chuckle about the back of the Furla shop being across the street. I find them like radar!
We walked to both Piazza Bra, and Piazza del Erbe. My simple goals for the evening were obtained: Italian coffee and vino! We had a simple dinner of shared plates of prosciutto with balsamico and local cheeses. Perfect! After dinner: coffee and grappa.
We headed off to bed 30 hours after our last wake-up in Palm Desert. THAT is one long day!

Oh, you both look SO happy!
I hate LAX - I would pay more to depart from Ontario or Palm Springs.

Isn't it funny how those 30 hour days don't seem to hit you when you're in beautiful Italy? Enjoy!

Thought about you flying all day. When I woke up I thought, "They're there!" Glad you arrived safe and sound. The fun has started, yippee!

I love Verona and you're staying where we usually stay. Traditionally we always have a Quintarelli Valpolicella at one of the cafes bordering Piazza Bra at least once during our visit - wish we were there.
