On our last morning in Verona, after breakfast, we took a short drive to Sirmione on Lago di Garda. The clouds looked ominous. The rain held off until we were on our way back to the car. Sirmione has a locely castle, but is VERY touristy, so we were not there long. Luckily, we have seen Lake Garda in beautiful weather. There was sunshine in Verona in time for lunch!
Then we had the MOST fabulous lunch at Trattoria Al Pompiere. (separate blog post!)
After a nap, we did some shopping. I found a lovely cardigan sweater, and a gold Verona charm for my Italy charm bracelet. Then we took a long walk along the river at sunset. It was very romantic!

We were walking toward our restaurant for dinner, but arrived before it was time for our reservation. We found a teeny tiny bar on a teeny tiny residential street, and sat for a glass of wine. At the next table (the ONLY other table), we met a group of teeny tiny seniors (sounds like un libro per bambini...). They were SO cute. They just couldn't believe that we had come ALL the WAY from CALIFORNIA to their tiny neighborhood. It was incredible to them AND that we (ok, I) spoke to them in Italian! They were gobsmacked! They were adorable. It was worth the walk, even if the restaurant hadn't been great, but it was.
We ate at Antico Tripoli. We shared a primi of taglitelle with shrimp and zucchini. Then we both enjoyed veal: grilled and Milanese style.

Us usual, the food looks wonderful! You should do a post about your charm bracelet...I'd love to see it.
