On our way to Paso Robles, we stopped for lunch in downtown Santa Barbara at Elements, across the street from the beautiful Courthouse. Indoor or outdoor seating is available in nice weather, and there is a nice wine list.
I enjoyed a spicy jalapeno tuna melt, and Brad had a delicious lamb dip sandwich.

After lunch, enjoy a walk through the courthouse gardens across the street, and you are only a block and a half from State Street shopping area.

After countless trips to Santa Barbara we only discovered this place after I saw it in a show Giada did in SB-we've enjoyed it a few times-I like lunch there better than dinner.

I've been looking for some new lunch spots around Santa Barbara. I enjoy Fresco for sandwiches or Natural Cafe if I'm in a super healthy mood, but I will definitely check this place out next time I'm on State. Do you have any suggestions for a place to stay (that won't break the bank)? My wife and I normally stay at The Sandman Inn, which is a great property but we always like to look for new places. We are in Santa Barbara frequently so it's nice to switch it up.

I love this place! Whenever I was in town I always used to pass by and was always curious what all the fuss was about (it was always a packed house!) I finally went in one day a few year ago and loved it. Now whenever I'm in SB I always stop off and grab a good lunch. I was just in town and had a great time doing just this and much more. We stayed at the South Coast Inn (www.santa-barbara-hotel.com). So elegant and the perfect place to escape all of the city noise.

I think the location of Elements is great, you can sit on the patio and enjoy the beauty of the courthouse as well the food is just cooked to perfection. This is a great local hangout but I recommend tourists to get off the beaten path and search out gems like this. Their salads are my favorite part, incredibly fresh and always made to perfection. I come to Santa Barbara for an assortment of reasons but it is usually for business. I really enjoy staying at the South Coast Inn (www.santa-barbara-hotel.com). Really oriented for the business traveler and right outside of town so you have a ton of money.

I have ALWAYS wanted to go here! I once went on a walking tour of all the historic buildings in Santa Barbara and saw this place across the street from the court house and it looked absolutely divine! By the looks of the pictures of the food I wasn't too far off. Looks like an awesome lunch spot I might have to stop off at the next time I am in town on business, which is quite often! May needs to come faster, thought it is work, it's still a lot of fun to spend a good 4-5 days in town, lots of down time! Glad that this places is a incredibly close to downtown and the hotel I'm always staying at, the Sandman Inn (www.thesandmaninn.com). Cheap and great for short trips!
