I hosted my book club lunch this month, and we read the new mystery, Think of a Number, by John Verdon. It had many twists, turns and a surprising ending that no one predicted. We enjoyed the book, but felt there was some repetition of clues along the way. This first-time author did keep us turning pages quickly to see "who done it".
I served three salads for lunch (curry chicken salad, spicy corn salad and carrot-raisin salad), and some berry scones with berry butter.

For dessert: I began with a lemon cake, and split each layer in two. I spread homemade lemon curd between the layers.

Then I frosted the cake with whipped cream frosting, and topped it with lemon curd.

I topped the whipped cream rosettes with Peeps for my peeps!

The cake was moist and lemony!
