It is a weird birthday. I will spend the day at the San Diego airport by myself. Well, not the WHOLE day. Brad is dropping me off about 9 a.m., and my flight is at 2:25. The good news is I will be in Venice TOMORROW night! Since this year my birthday is sort of strange, I will tell you about a couple of past birthdays that were AMAZING!
When I turned 40, my ex-husband threw me a fun party! We lived in the Bay area then. 36 of my friends met at 4 p.m. at the Top of the Mark Hopkins Hotel on Nob Hill in San Francisco for the beginning of the festivities.
We were organized into teams for a night-long scavenger hunt around the city on a motorized cable car. Teams had to get items in Chinatown, North Beach (where we also stopped for dinner), jokes, songs and quiz on the Golden Gate Bridge, Pier 39/Fisherman's Wharf, and we ended up at the now closed Tonga Room at the Fairmont for drinks, dancing and cake! It was a fabulous party.
When I turned 50, Brad gave me an extravaganza in Las Vegas. We began on Wednesday with Ida and Bill at Caesar's Palace.
Wonderful dinners as more friends arrived in Vegas:

and finally an AMAZING dinner at Valentino's at the Venetian!
It was a memorable few days with 30 friends!
Domani I will be in VENEZIA!
