Friday morning! How could the week have gone so quickly? I saw so much of Venice I never knew existed! I had coffee at the corner cafe and picked up some fresh burrata that had just been flown in from Puglia at a little market I discovered the other day.
Then we all left for the Rialto Market for Shannon and Kim to do some shopping for our dinner. Soon we all split up, and I enjoyed the street behind the market, where I found cool watches, and picked up some watercolor bookmarks. We stopped for a beverage.
Later we set off again to visit the Jewish ghetto neighborhood, just a few blocks from our apartment. Kim was very knowledgeable about the history of the Jews in Venice, and the 5 synagogs that are still there.

Time for a snack, so we stopped at a bar for crostini:

It was a day to see churches we had missed. I was very happy to visit Santa Maria dei Miracoli, the beautiful little marble church.

We also visited Campo di San Giovani e Paolo and took a peek inside the church.

We returned to the apartment for some final packing, and a room switch. Kim moved into my bedroom for the night, and gave me hers with a king bed, as Brad was arriving at 6:30!!!
Nancy and I went to meet his Alilaguna boat and get him to the apartment. It was officially "Happy Hour". Shannon and Kim made us an fabulous dinner.
Fresh Burrata
Gorgonzola Dolce with pear and fig mostarda
Salami and taralli
A HUGE mixed green salad
4 kinds of Italian sausage with grapes
Asparagus with parmigiano
Nutella Panna Cotta
Cookies
LOTS of wine flowed. My photos are missing food items, and get a little blurry. Could that be from the wine? We had a huge plate of fresh burrata, and I was so busy enjoying it, I took no photo!

It was an amazing week I will never forget in Venice with wonderful friends, great food, much wine and LOTS of laughter! Brava GrapeHops!
