On June 3, after breakfast, Jan, Les, Brad and I left Bologna after getting all the luggage for four people into our rental car.

Our first stop was Verona for lunch, a little shopping, and a nickel tour of the centro for Jan and Les. We walked from Piazza Bra to Piazza del Erbe, stopping into a couple of favorite shops along the way. We had a quick lunch, and then got back on the road to Varenna.
We arrived at Hotel Du Lac, our home for then next few days. The forecast predicted rain, but the afternoon was sunny with some grey clouds on the horizon.

It was late afternoon. We settled into our rooms with neighboring large terraces, and had a glass of wine on the lovely terrace overlooking the lake. It is a lovely spot to relax! Since I am always the first one up, it is also my place for quiet time in the mornings.

Around 6:00, we walked around the corner to show Jan and Les my favorite spot, Bar Molo on the lovely little cove. More wine was consumed, and the rain began. None of us were very hungry, so we opted for panini for dinner. I had an Italian "tuna melt".

We relaxed later that evening at the hotel bar, and then caught up on some sleep with an early to bed night!

Palma,
As always I am, and have been, following your fabulous Italian adventures. Love your pictures and descriptions!! May I ask please, what car you had as your rental, as we are also going to be in Italy in October with another couple and I am very worried about being able to fit in all our luggage!!
Thanks

Hi Dorit,
Our car for that trip was a Ford Galaxy van through Kemwell. There were 4 huge bags, 3 22" bags and various carry-ons.

What great Italian memories you have made together with your dear friends. They are lucky to have such great guides.
