We spent a few hours of our last day in Lugano, Switzerland. We crossed Lake Como on the ferry to Mennagio, and from there it was less than an hour to Lake Lugano. We found parking, then walked around the center of town for a couple of hours. Our first stop was a caffe and a cafe latte in the main piazza. It still seemed like Italy, but with fewer people speaking Italian, and the bill was of course in Swiss Francs.
We walked around the central shopping district: lots of purse shops and a chocolate store. I bought some miniature marzipan fruits.
It started to sprinkle, so we ducked into a covered outdoor restaurant for a pasta lunch. I was a little disappointed with Lugano. Maybe it was the grey weather, or maybe I was ready to start the long journey to Palm Desert, but it is not a town I would return to.
After lunch, we drove to our hotel across from the Malpensa airport to relax until our early morning flight home the next day. So ends another trip to Italia!
