We boarded our bus with Marcello and headed to Ravenna for a look at the amazing mosaics. We began at San Vitale, soaking up some of the scenes in the gorgeous church:

Next we went into the Mausoleum of Galla Placida, just behind the church.

We stopped for coffee or a cold drink, and visited my favorite glass shop, Anna Fietta.
I have been to Ravenna four times, and to this glass shop on all four visits. I LOVE this place!

This time I came prepared with a paper pattern of a small project I want to try making in glass mosiac. I bought my supplies with Anna's expert guidance, as well as a small Italian flag pin and an Italian flag mosiac.

We walked to the main piazza and had an hour free to wander, have a cool drink, shop, or explore more of Ravenna.

Next: Lunch and Dinner!!!

I have such fond memories of this city. Thank you for taking me there again. The mosaics are truly beautiful and completely amazing. I'm sure your group was very appreciative that you included this stop as part of your tour. You have chosen the pace and places so well.
