We are having an AMAZING time! Oh I could live here!
Our flight was easy and unremarkable. I slept at least 8 of the 11 hours while Brad watched 2 movies. Krazy glue is gone.
We drove from Rome and arrived in Ascoli in the late afternoon, happy with our hotel room at Residenza 100 Torre. The piazzas are alive and full with locals and a few others in town for the antique faire weekend and a music festival. We wandered, drank wine, and had a fabulous first night dinner.
On Saturday, I was walking the streets by 6:30, found my new favorite caffe that opens early and has great cornetti. Brad was up and about by 7:45 and after a quick breakfast, we were off to explore a few hilltowns. We visited Offida, Castangnano, Cossingnano and Ozzantano! I will give a full report when I get home, but it was really one of our favorite days in Italy EVER! We also celebrated our anniversary, as it was the 16th and we were flying or driving much of the day.
We spent our anniversary dinner at La Locanderia where continuous plates of food arrived until we begged then to stop! Then we spent two more hours in the busy piazza and were the last ones back at our hotel. The night clerk had our key ready to hand us, knowing everyone else was already tucked in for the evening. We purchased 5 bottles of wine and have been comped 3 bottles in less than 24 hours. Salute a Le Marche!

Sounds like a great day!
Mind you, I've yet to hear you mention a BAD day in Italy . . . not sure that that is possible.

Congrats on your anniversary, Palma! Sounds like a wonderful arrival in Italy. I look forward to hearing more about Le Marche!

Happy 11th Anniversary!! Seems like just yesterday when I was in your wedding party.

Palma! You're in Ascoli! Fabulous! Can't wait to hear all about it - which bar became your favorite, where you ate, your strolls amidst the towers of "my" town! Congrats on your anniversary :)
