We had a lovely Sunday, and I'm too tired to blog!
After breakfast, on yet another beautiful, sunny day, we returned to Urbino to see the Palazzo Ducale. It is amazing, and I especially found the "basement" level interesting. Huge caverns and gigantic rooms of stone and brick, under the huge palace. Here was the kitchen, cisterns and a Roman bath.
We had lunch and did a little shopping for some gifts. This is a crescia sfogliata, a wonderful layered dough, stuffed with cheese, prosciutto, or veggies and cheese and grilled (like a Le Marche quesadilla).

Then we visited the town of Fossombrone. It was quiet on a Sunday afternoon, so we wandered, had coffee, and then drove to the beautiful Furlo Gorge. It was really beautiful, as was a tiny Romanesque church and abbey a short distance away. It was a perfect Sunday in Le Marche.
For dinner, we stayed at the locanda and had a picnic with cheese, salami, breadsticks, Giulia's grapes and wine.
Time to pack up and head towards Rome tomorrow.
