
Le Cantine di Castignano was busy! There were several trucks lined up from local grape growers, ready to make their grapes into wine. We were given a tour of the facility.


First, sugar samples are taken. Our guide grabbed some grapes out of the truck and handed them to us to eat. They tasted sweet to me!

Down the hatch!

This machine removes stems and seeds, and cleans the grapes.

We tasted the sweet, unfermented juice.

Then the juice is filtered into underground rivers of pre-vino!

Time to browse and TASTE the finished products!

Here I am with our friendly host, Giampiero. We bought 4 bottles and a beautiful hinged wooden wine box. Total: 18 euro! (Another free bottle!)
