We recently learned about the Whitewater Preserve, which is just 20 minutes from our house. The above photo shows the amount of water after a dry summer. Last January the water was flooding after a brief rain.
We decided to take Luigi out for an outing a "nature walk". OK, stop laughing! I am NOT known for being a nature girl! MY goal was to see some fall color, close to home!
We saw some fall leaves, and lots of picnic areas with mountain views:

There was a lovely little babbling creek:

Luigi had some ideas about exploring the creek that we vetoed!

There was a nice walking path:

Below the warm welcome, the sign showed us what we might see:

We decided NOT to walk to Mexico or Canada!

There are also several ponds, and even trout that will jump for food!

It was a great discovery, and right in our own back yard. Who knew?

How lovely!
You may turn into an Outdoor Girl yet!
We have a group of friends ; and our get-togethers are always to see and do things that are in our own "back yard".
We too have found some great places!
