Nancy served this delicious bread at our monthly Book Club lunch on Thursday. I decided to make some for St Paddy's Day, and make it GREEN. The dough comes together in 5 minutes, (no rising necessary), and it is ready to go, start to finish in less than an hour! YUM!
3 1/2 c. flour
3 T. sugar
1 T. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. salt
12 oz. beer
1 egg , beaten (for wash)
Heat oven to 375. Mix all dry ingredients in a large bowl. Add beer and stir with a fork until combined. Turn dough onto a floured surface, and knead quickly into a ball. Place bread on a baking sheet. (I sprinkled a little cornmeal on the baking sheet first.)
Slit an X in the top of the loaf with a knife. Brush with beaten egg. Bake 45 min. until crust is golden. Cool on a wire rack.
HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY!

Yum. I used to make a cheddar beer bread back in the day when I made bread. This looks delicious.
We're having green bagels for lunch today!
Happy St Patrick's Day!
