
I am very proud of my friend, Maria for painting all year to get ready for her first solo art show at the Palm Desert Community Gallery. The theme is "Farming in the Desert - Up Close and Personal". She has 48 paintings on display from now through June 29.
Maria has been painting for the past 13 years, and is my watercolor teacher and mentor as well as my friend. Her paintings at the exhibit include works in oil, watercolor, and pen and ink. To read more about Maria, you can read about her in the Desert Sun.
Our book club friends came on "Opening Day" of the exhibit to support and honor Maria!

To keep with the theme, Maria was out in the fields of Coachella and surrounding rural areas in the early mornings to capture the light on the mountains and on the crops that are grown here. She did an amazing job! Here are some photos of Maria's art, but my camera doesn't do them justice:
