On our first visit to Urbania in 2011 we had a wonderful meal at Osteria del Cucco. We were excited to return this year with Diane and Frank for a wonderful lunch. Giorgio and Donatella are amazing hosts, and the presentation is as lovely as the food is delicious.

Much to our surprise, they have opened a second location, Casa Tintoria, on the edge of town down a steep walk just outside the wall on a riverbank. We were pleasantly surprised to find the same amazing food in a "picnic in the park" kind of outdoor setting, and a beautiful and romantic interior. (Check out the website for some beautiful food photos.)
Our lunch began with appetizer cups made from eggless pasta dough stuffed with wild greens, herbs and potato.

Out came an antipasti plate with baked veal meatballs with pistachios, rolled crepes with ricotta-herb filling, and a local style panzanella. This was followed by a terrific salad in balsamic dressing topped with shaved cheese, radishes and truffles.

Our pasta dishes were perfect! We enjoyed hand-cut pasta with zucchini and blossoms, and an eggplant-filled ravioli that was as light as air. What a treat!

Urbania is a charming town, with a nice piazza, beautiful theater, and a ceramic museum, but lunch or dinner with Giorgio and Donatella makes it a not-to-be-missed excursion in Le Marche!

I clearly remember the night in 2008 when we walked into the restaurant without a reservation and they turned us away. I'm glad you've gotten to enjoy their wonderful food. My mouth is watering!
