We hosted a summer BBQ party last night for my professional association, CAMFT Desert Chapter (California Association of Marriage Family Therapists), of which I am the social chairman (go figure...). The theme was DUCKS!

My kitchen table was centered with a baby's blow-up swimming pool filled with all kinds of rubber duckies (for the duck race in the pool).

The patio table was filled with a larger wading pool and 200 pounds of ice to hold all the fixings for do-it-yourself grilled chicken and beef kabobs. A box of hospital exam gloves kept everyone's hands clean while dipping into three different bowls of marinated meats. The appetizers were baked brie with fig jam and hot fennel-bacon dip. Sides included Cinco di Mayo Salad, green salad with peaches, pancetta, shaved parmigiano and a peach-balsamic dressing, and watermelon.

Check out the fun:

Dessert? Of course there were rubber duckie cupcakes that quacked everyone up!
More on those tomorrow!

I just think this is so clever and so nice...all the thought and work you put in. I'm sure they must just adore you!

Such fun! I love the idea of make-your-own skewers for an informal party.
