On Sunday morning in San Diego, we met my friend, Janie, for coffee at Cafe Italia. We had a short visit, then checked out of our hotel, and stopped at the Italian market for coffee and salami to take home.
We headed to the Zoo. I hadn't been there since I was a child and remembered so much about being there with my parents, and had so many happy memories of my dad telling me about the animals. It was VERY HOT on Sunday! We were drenched after two hours and lots of walking. Our favorites were the panda and the polar bears! Federico enjoyed the day. Afterwards, we went to Shelter Island, and had lunch before our ride home and the closing ceremonies of the Olympics.

Looking forward to photos of Federico and his new American teenage friends. Hope he will tell us his impression of school, food and football games.

So many of us have memories of family trips to the San Diego Zoo. Now Federico will too!
