Apples, Apples and More Apples

It's that time of the year to cook with apples! Oak Glen is our place to taste and buy them! There are many apple farms, pie shops (I like to make my own...), and places for a picnic.

You can pick your own, or buy them in bags, along with some unfiltered cider! We tasted 12 different apples, and each chose our favorite. Then we had BBQ tri-tip sandwiches under a maple tree. It was a lovely 72 degrees!

The next couple of weeks promise apple pie, apple cake, apple-squash soup, chicken with apples, pork with apples, and what ever else I come up with!

What a fun day! We know its Autumn when the apples arrive!!!! Cant wait to see what yummy recipes we pick for our Thanksgiving feast this year.

I love these orchards. I visited on October when I did a trade show in San Bernardino - it was my 'reward' for having to do the show. Lots of fun varieties and a spot you wouldn't expect that close to LA or the desert.

You are giving Frederico a great tour of American life - including Apple pie!

Sounds wonderful! I want the receipe for the apple squash soup. Federico must be having a blast.
