TWO weekends in a row, I was in the mountains/hills! I am NOT a mountain girl! Give me the beach any day. Last weekend's visit to Idyllwild was only our second in 12 years in the desert, and it may take me another 6 years to go back. (I DID love that little lake though, because it was WATER!)
This past Sunday, we did a day trip that was more my speed: Oak Glen! It was our annual hour's ride from home into the foothills for apples, pumpkins and some fall leaves. Why all this mountain air, you ask? Federico, of course! He loves the trees! So off we went!
As it's name promises, there were LOTS of oak trees!

Though it is a bit early here, I was on a quest for some fall color. It just got below 100 degrees at our house, so not much chance of autumn leaves in Palm Desert. I was on a mission!

It wasn't looking good. All the trees were still green. But I don't give up easily. I spotted a tree in the distance. While Brad and Federico stayed in the car, I walked along the road with my camera until I could get close enough to the first one.

I drive everyone crazy with this every year. We really need to take a fall foliage trip to the east coast! A couple of hours later, I spotted another tree. Brad pulled over, and I walked to it. Hehehe. NOW we're talking!

I was a happy camper! Federico enjoyed the day, and Brad was a great sport driving (and stopping, every time I yelled, "Tree!").

Palma, Brad was mentioning on FB how maybe he should write a book since so many slowtrav friends are doing the same. I said " definitely he should pen one and title it: "Brad'll do it!" There could be a chapter titled :Trees!"

I can relate - fall is my favorite season. These are great pics. I want to visit there when we come back.
