We're Back for La Befana

We are FINALLY home and almost back to reality!

We survived the marathon week of returning from Rome to LAX where we met with Federico's family in Hollywood. We arrived on Dec. 30 in time to celebrate Luca's birthday with a late dinner, then spend 10 hours at Universal Studios on the 31. That night we had a grand New Year's Eve dinner at Osteria Firenze, returning to Palm Desert for a day on January 1. We grabbed some clothes for Vegas and off we went for three nights before getting everyone on their flight at the Las Vegas airport at 5:30 a.m. for their return flight to Roma.

On January 5, three tired zombies returned to Palm Desert. On January 6, we unpack MOST of the bags, decided the Christmas trees and decorations could wait, and had a relaxing day of laundry and naps.

I got my second wind and we celebrated La Befana in style with an wonderful dinner of an herb-crusted rack of lamb, honey-glazed carrots and potatoes au gratin. Finally we had a La Befana cake and more gifts for Federico.

Luigi returned home after a 3-week vacation with "Auntie Karla" and opened his stocking as well. He is stylin' in his new Italy t-shirt, collar and leash! It was tough getting him to sit still and pose in his new duds, but you get the idea!

My goal today is for Brad and I to get the Italy tree down, and make a pot of soup before returning to work this afternoon. Federico and I both need a vacation from our vacation!

I enjoyed every minute of your trip. I have no idea how you managed to travel more after you came home! Love Luigi's new look.

Cathy Butero:

Welcome home! I loved all your chatty missives and pics from Italy. I can only hope you are able to get some well-deserved rest NOW!
