Happy July 4th!

I hope everyone has a safe, happy, and relaxing 4th of July. Our goal is to stay cool today! Temps are supposed to come DOWN under the 112 of the past few days, but after last weekend's record 122, we are not complaining too much. Tonight we are going to a concert in Palm Desert's Civic Center Park, followed by fireworks.

Our picnic menu:
Roast Beef-blue cheese spread roll-up sandwiches
Potato salad
Watermelon-blueberry salad
Grilled asparagus salad

The pool feels like a bath tub! I'm planning lots of lazy time reading, and maybe a nap where I can dream about cool beaches!

I mailed most of these cookies to you-know-who in Italy. I packaged them in red, white and blue paper-covered Pringles cans and LOTS of bubble wrap. We'll see how they do. He should get them today or tomorrow. I left a few for Brad...

Barb Cabot:

Have a wonderful 4th Palma. Your day sounds wonderful and relaxing and the evening dinner and concert perfect. I love the cookies. You are ever thoughtful and creative. Enjoy your day my friend.

Oh boy, that watermelon and blueberry salad looks so fresh and cooling!

I hope you get relief from this heatwave soon.

Those cookies look like some my Mom used to make and mail to my brother at school. Even though she wrapped them carefully, they ended up in small pieces. But he ate them anyway, down to the last crumb!

Hi Palma,
As always love your blog and read it all the time, although I don't usually post comments.
You have a picture of an Italian restaurant in one of your travels where I remember a beautiful side table or serving table with many glass vases and maybe some candles also. I am desperately looking for that picture. Would you be so kind as to direct me to it? Many thanks in advance!!
